Biography
Aris Lacis, cardiac surgeon, professor, MD, PhD graduated Riga Medical Institute in 1961. General and thoracic surgeon in P. Stradina University Hospital in Riga (1964–1969). Thoracic and cardiac surgeon in the Latvian Centre for Cardiovascular Surgery (1969–1994). Since 1994 until 2012 – the head of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Clinic in University Children’s Hospital, Riga; since 2012 – a consulting professor of this Clinic. President of Latvian Association for Pediatric Cardiologists. Author of 395 scientific publications, 3 monographs and 13 patents. Investigator in more than 10 clinical trials including cardiosurgical procedures performed under deep hypothermia, hybrid procedures etc. In may 2009 at first in the world have been used transcutan intramyocardial delivery autologous bone morrow derived progenitor stem cells for 3 months aged patient suffering from idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy.In November 2010 the first patient with end stage pulmonary hypertension received intrapulmonary implantation autologous stem cells.

Biography
Sergey Suchkov was born in the City of Astrakhan, Russia, in a family of dynasty medical doctors, i.e., father, Dr Victor Suchkov, was a surgeon, and mother, Dr Elena Suchkova, is an endocrinologist. In 1980, Suchkov graduated from Astrakhan State Medical University and was awarded with MD. During the studentship Suchkov was extensively involved into research in the area of ocular immunology and won in 1980 the First Prize at the First International Contest among the Medical Students in Praque. In 1985, Suchkov maintained his PhD as a PhD student of the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and Institute of Medical Enzymology, USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, Moscow, Russia. In 2001, Suchkov finiched the PostDoc Research Fellowship Program and maintained his Doctor Degree at the National Institute of Immunology, Russia. From 1985 through 1987, Dr Suchkov worked as a Post Doc Research Associate, Department of Medical Biotechnology, Institute of Medical Enzymology, USSR Academy of Medical Sciences to be involved into research in clinical enzymology and applications of DNA-dependent enzymes in clinical medicine. From 1995 through 2004, Dr Suchkov was a Chairman of the Dept for Clinical Immunology, Moscow Clinical Research Institute (MONIKI) and the Immunologist-in-Chief of the Moscow Regional Ministry of Health to do research, to cover different areas of the clinical activities and to manage regional immunological services. Dr Suchkov is an author of more than 500 publications and 10 patents. He is a member of the ARVO (American Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology), ISER (International Society for Eye Research), All-Union (from 1992 - Russian) Biochemical Society, All-Union (from 1992 - Russian) Immunological Society.

Biography
Dr. Lerakis is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University. He received his M.D. degree from the Medical School of Athens (Greece) in 1988. He continued on doing clinical research in Nuclear Cardiology in Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Subsequently, he did his Internal Medicine training in the Presbyterian Medical Center of Philadelphia from 1991 to 1994 and completed his Fellowship in Critical Care in Brown University from 1994 to 1995. He went on to complete his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas from 1995 to 1998 and then did one year of Echocardiography Fellowship at Emory University from 1998 to 1999. After his Echocardiography Fellowship, he has stayed on as Faculty in the Division of Cardiology practicing clinical and non-invasive cardiology.
